About Course

The European Union (EU) paved the way for greater sustainable investments in 2019 when it passed the Green Deal, which includes investments in the circular economy, biodiversity, and renewable energy. With a 55% reduction put into practice in 2030, the EU aims to have a climate-neutral economy by 2050. The Green Deal comprises a 1 trillion-euro investment plan over the next ten years to meet these climate targets. Notwithstanding this massive expenditure, the EU still needs the business community’s help to fulfill the Paris Climate Agreement. The European Union (EU) paved the way for greater sustainable investments in 2019 when it passed the Green Deal, which includes investments in the circular economy, biodiversity, and renewable energy.

To provide fair competition and legal clarity for all businesses operating within the EU, the EU Taxonomy Regulation and the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) are being implemented.

The following are the main objectives of both rules, which adhere to the Green Deal’s goal:

  • Re-routing financial flows with an emphasis on environmentally friendly ventures
  • Integrating sustainability into risk management
  • Supporting and promoting long-term economic activity and investment
