About Course

IMDS: – IMDS stands for International Material Data System. It is a web-based tool used in the automotive industry for collecting, managing, and sharing material data related to automotive components. IMDS is primarily used to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to promote the use of environmentally friendly materials in the automotive manufacturing process.

And it includes Material Data Management, Regulatory Compliance, Supply Chain Collaboration, Environmental Impact Assessment, Standardization, Data Security

IMDS Release: – It refers to a document that accompanies a new release or version of the software. It provides information about the changes, updates, bug fixes, and new features included in that release. Release notes are important for users and administrators to understand what has been modified or improved in the software, helping them adapt to the changes and utilize the new features effectively. The IMDS system’s release notes currently list a great number of versions that have already been made available.

IMDS Release 15.0: – IMDS (International Material Data System) Release 15.0 is scheduled for production rollout on July 5–6, 2025.

And the release does not require an update of the IMDS Advanced Interface (IMDS-AI)

  • Rest as Range: “Rest” portion in compositions now displays as a min/max range for better searchability.
  • Product Carbon Footprint (PCF): Support for manufacturing and transport emission data in MDS.
  • PCF Contact Role: New role to manage and submit carbon footprint data.
  • Production Sites: Site location becomes the fixed identifier for carbon data; changes limited.
  • Transport Routes: Emission data linked to production site/customer; can be discontinued, not deleted.
  • Carbon Data Visibility: Downstream visibility only after MDS acceptance; shows partial info.
  • MDS Copy/Versioning: Carbon data is carried over automatically unless discontinued.
  • PCF Updates Email: A new type of subscription email has been added: “PCF Updates”
  • User Privileges Update: Granular permissions replace old role types; transition keeps access intact.

  • Regulatory Info Check: New validation for missing or incomplete regulatory fields on submission.
  • MDS Check: When sending or publishing an MDS, missing regulatory information will trigger an
